Since 1891,  YWCA Northwestern Illinois has upheld an unwavering dedication to the mission, “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.” Continuously adjusting to the emerging needs of the four counties served: Boone, Winnebago, Stephenson, and Jo Daviess. In 2020, YWCA expanded programming into McHenry and Ogle counties. In 2010, YWCA was the recipient of the Rockford Register Star’s Excelsior Award; and in 2013, was honored for excellence in racial justice programming by the YWCA USA.
